For twenty years I have found the problem nobody owned, defined it, and shipped it.
I am German, studied computer science in Switzerland, and have been building software for a living since the late nineties: in Zurich, in Germany, in London, and since 2021 in Montreal. For fifteen of those years I worked for myself. I co-founded a company once and learned more from how it ended than from how it started.
I am drawn to the problem nobody owns yet. The system everyone works around, the migration nobody wants to start, the new way of working that has no name in the org chart. I like defining it, getting the right people to agree it matters, and then shipping it until it is boring.
Right now that problem is how software gets built when AI writes most of it. I spend my days on that, and most of what I have learned is public, on GitHub.
- ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Implementer, certified 2026. The governance side of putting agents into production: who is accountable, what is logged, what an agent may never do.
- Deep in .NET, Azure and SQL Server, fluent in Python and TypeScript. Before that, a decade of GPU ray tracing, Unity and VR.
- Two and a half years on a sailboat, including an Atlantic crossing, shipping VR software the whole way. Nobody waits to be chosen to cross an ocean.
